Let there be no secrets: When I started work as an online media consultant, Chicago was a finalist for the 2016 Olympics, Barack Obama was the President of the United States, and the American Auto Industry was on the brink of bankruptcy. This all happened way back in April of 2009.
While I haven’t been at this long, I’ve done an exceptionally good job for my clients. Working for the Parliament of Religions, I’ve helped arrange the participation of President Jimmy Carter in their signature event with over 8,000 attendees, and designed and launched a social network, PeaceNext. In my service of this and other clients, including Chicago’s prestigious Brainsell advertising firm, I have launched and run social media, pay-per-click (PPC), and email marketing campaigns, designed and maintained blogs, conducted search engine optimization (SEO), coordinated partnerships with affiliated organizations, and managed a team of outreach callers and researchers.
There are two common misconceptions when it comes to web marketing, one being that it is can only be performed by the likes of MacGyver and the other being that anyone can do it.
Web marketing does not require any extraordinary genius; it works given the diligent pursuit of new technology, a commitment to development over the long-haul, and the creative exploitation of available opportunities. These are strategies that are as old as marketing itself.
At the same time, not just anyone can successfully run a web marketing campaign. It requires a knowledge of medium and audience, an understanding of how various tools and platforms can work together, and above all, the experience and insight to see the forest for the trees.
Given my extensive background — a background that takes in the ambiguities of creative writing and editing as well as the scrutiny and rigor of demography and research — I am able to deliver my clients the best outcome for their product and strategy.
