Integrity wounds. It is the thing that prompts us to take high stake gambles. Therefore, those who risk much must have integrity. Observation tells us that this is not so. There are many for whom the nudge of hunger is fully sufficient. And so when Samson motored his bike down the street at great speed, full throttle daring the lights to change their color. He believes, personally, in his heart, that there is some enduring principle at work, and that something will be lost – something of character and soul – if he stops at any of the three lights between himself and the viaduct. And while his isn’t hit or flipped or killed, he is not faster than the speed of light, and the drive of the sedan that interrupts his red with the screech of brakes assumes he’s an arrogant fool gambling with his own and others’ lives.
